Salt n Pair

An app design enhancing organizing the kitchen pantry that keeps track of ingredients digitally

β€˜Salt n Pair’ is an iOS application for mobile aiming for a better and easier way of keeping track of the users’ kitchen pantry with a weighable container. This app will allow users to know how much ingredients they have in their pantry digitally. The container weighs the ingredient and pairs with the app to add to users’ digital pantries.

 βœοΈ The Challenge

  • Users have trouble remembering their kitchen pantry stock when they go grocery shopping. Users often have to write a list or note on their phones to remember what to buy at the grocery

  • It is common for the user to forget which ingredients are running low, especially while grocery shopping

  • It takes a lot of time to look for recipes to cook with the exact ingredients that the user has in their pantry

How might we enhance their grocery shopping / organizing experience?

πŸš€ Goals

Design an iOS app that keeps track of and organizes users’ pantries digitally by pairing a weighable container that measures users’ ingredients.

This series of screens is what users will experience when they enter the app. The user can log in with an existing account or create a new account.

πŸ₯« How to add ingredients to the app

When the user lands on the homepage, they are able to look at their digital pantry at a glance and also trending recipes that can be cooked with their ingredients.

To add an ingredient, the user can use the scanning feature located on the footer of the screen. This series of screens shows the process of adding ingredients to the app by scanning a Salt n Pair weighable container.

A Salt n Pair weighable container has a QR code that the user can scan with the app. The container weighs the ingredients to keep track of them.

🍯 Smart pantry

The user can digitally look at their pantry with Salt n Pair. If some ingredients are running low (container has gotten lighter), the app indicates to the user that the specific ingredient is running low. The user can also look at each added ingredient in detail.

This will help the user keep track of their pantry with the app, especially to check which ingredients are running low while grocery shopping.

πŸ›’ Smart grocery shopping

When the app detects the user at a grocery shop, it notifies them if they have an ingredient running low. This can help the user to get reminded of what they need to re-stock.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Recipes

It’s a hassle to watch a cooking video and realize the user is missing an ingredient. It also takes a lot of time to look for recipes to cook with the exact ingredients that the user has.

Since Salt n Pair tracks the pantry in users’ kitchens, the app has a feature where the user can enable that shows a list of recipes that can be made with the ingredients that the user has at home. This can help the users save time looking for recipes.
